I am a mother of three children and I’m 34. I got married at the tender age of 16 and my husband, 22. He works in the capital city, Kathmandu and visits us only during festival times and emergencies. It has nearly been a decade since he went out for earning. We can not even ask for him to visit us more, since he is the only breadwinner of our family of 3 children and my mother in law. We spend most of his earnings on education of our children so that they would be able to earn handsome sum in future. We own some land where we grow cash crops and seasonal vegetables. Some of the harvests are consumed by family and some are sold so the needs of our family get fulfilled. Life is not at its worst but I wish my husband was with us at home. I wish he and I, together could raise our children. I wanted him to see our children grow. I somehow managed to raise our two daughters but I think it would have been different and easy, had my husband been here with us all the time. For proper parenting of any child, a father plays an equally important role as much as his/her needs mother does. I miss him a-lot and hope he would come home soon.
