handling blasting machines

I am now retired from Nepal army. I used to work in construction section, handling blasting machines in rough terrains in the hills and the mountains. While I was on duty, in the field, accidentally things went wrong and blasting occurred right in front of me and very close to my eyes. Situation couldn’t get any worse as I found myself lying on a hospital bed with amputated right palm and having lost the vision of my left eye. I was saddened thinking that I will not be able to continue my job but my troop was humble enough to offer me simple table work. Thankfully, I was left handed. I retired from the service eight years later from the incident. I don’t have any regrets; instead I fell very proud that I lost my eye and my palm for my nation and while serving for our people. Because of my work my community still respects me. I as well receive pension from the government which makes me self dependent and hence I live on my own. I am happy with whatever I have.
